lamb-like lion.

One of our required texts to read is "Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ." Piper does a great job of presenting the contrasting nature of Christ. One chapter was about the descriptions of Jesus in terms of lion and lamb. Characteristics like a lion- a mighty, powerful protector, combined with the meek, gentle spirit of a lamb.

Someone in the group discussion brought up Chronicles of Narnia, and the quote from the beaver that described Aslan- "Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you."

Which of course reminded me of a song: Aslan, by Kendall Payne. Partial lyrics are below.

A frightening lion, no doubt
He's not safe, no he's not safe...
He won't say the words you wish that he would
Oh, he don't do the deeds you know that He could
He won't think the thoughts you think He should
But He is good, He is good
